Three Advertising and Public Relations (AdPR) students from Polytechnic University of the Philippines - College of Communication (PUP-COC) advance to the qualifying round of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) Grand Prix Hack Sprint to represent the university after successfully winning the nationwide selection of the competition, last January 24.

Guided by their mentor Prof. Earl Jaynus Guzman, COCians Michelle Lim (Team Leader/Strategic Planner), Vincent Ebita (Writer/Researcher), and Patricia Nicole Basilio (Multimedia Artist), are the team members who will proceed to phase two to compete together with other schools included in the top 20 entries from phase one, starting next week, February 3 via Zoom Meetings.

Before their qualification, they submitted an Entry Form and Letter of Recommendation from the school and the team’s position paper about a study entitled “The Great Resignation”, which was judged by the sponsors, selected PRSP members, and other industry practitioners.

Basilio said, “I also feel like we have a play-to-win mindset. We love thinking out of the box, and when we work, our energies always channel whatever is necessary to move forward. So ayon, I guess that's what can help us stand out.”

The team added that despite having limited time of preparation, they kept on working and helping each other out of the tasks even outside of their roles.

The PRSP Grand Prix is an annual competition by the said society which is accessible to all colleges and universities nationwide. It highlights the first-ever virtual Hack Sprint, wherein participants will submit their plans 24 hours after being told about the competition on February 3, according to the mechanics posted on PRSP Students’ PR Congress Facebook page.

The panel of jury will select the Top 5 entries from the Top 20 schools who will proceed to the final round. Winners will be declared on the same day after each team has discussed its plans.

Meanwhile, as PRSP Students’ PR Congress has announced that the competition proper will begin next week, they also advised the public to stay tuned to their social media websites for further updates about the said event.
