Three staffers of The Communicator (DAKOM), the official student publication of PUP-College of Communication (COC), bagged three individual awards in the recently concluded Luzon-wide journalism contest of the Assumption Outstanding Campus Press Awards (AOCPA) last January 12.
Showcasing their journalistic skills in their respective categories, feature editor Shaeka Madel Pardines was hailed as the Most Outstanding Feature Writer with her winning piece “Pakipatay ang Radyo!,” while editorial cartoonist Timothy Andrei Milambiling won 2nd place with his artwork entitled “Si Tano at Ang Mga Kasama.”
Furthermore, news writer Alec Marc Reguya placed 5th with his news article regarding the declaration of NTF-ELCAC as persona non-grata in PUP-COC.
Meanwhile, opinion writer Marjorie Ann Patricio also participated in the contest with her opinion piece: “Duterte's regime isn't just a joke, it's a whole circus.”
AOCPA acknowledged 13 participating university-wide and college-based publications in Luzon and presented 11 winning categories, which include eight individual awards and three major awards such as the Most Outstanding Campus Publication, Most Outstanding Campus Journalist, and Most Outstanding Campus Newspaper.
The said contest is an event led by Regina, the official student publication of the University of the Assumption, that aims to honor the exceptional talents of campus journalists and student publications in Luzon.
